The Grand Challenges for Social Work (GCSW) is pleased to announce the call for applications for its second doctoral awards cohort. The Doctoral awards are an exciting new element of the GCSW’s efforts to Go•Grander and are generously funded by the New York Community Trust. Learn more about the awards program here.
Doctoral awards of $3,000 are available to support dissertation or capstone expenses of social work doctoral students whose work addresses at least one of the Grand Challenges. It is expected that awardee proposals will discuss the impact on and potential to create policy and practice changes. One award will be made for each of the 13 Grand Challenges.
Review Application Guidelines for further information and details on application requirements.
Applications are due October 20 by 8pm ET.
Applicants must be enrolled in a social work doctoral program in the United States and its territories. Doctoral students who anticipate completing a capstone project or dissertation by August 31, 2025 are eligible to apply. Applications are strongly encouraged from students from underrepresented populations or with historically marginalized backgrounds. Examples of marginalized backgrounds include, but are not limited to, first-generation college graduates; individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds; individuals from minoritized communities; individuals from LGBTQ2SI communities; and individuals with disabilities.
