My research and the research of many others have documented the effectiveness of home and community based services as well as barriers to access that can be surmounted. Interdisciplinary work will be necessary to meet this challenge. Innovative approaches to increasing access involving policy as well as practice changes are currently being devised and tested, and more will be needed.
