On September 15-16, 2016 the Grand Challenges initiative hosted its first policy conference, Social Innovation for America’s Renewal: Ideas, Evidence, Action, at Washington University in St. Louis. The meeting produced a series of more than 50 policy recommendations around the 12 Grand Challenges. Following the meeting, the Initiative has developed a list of 12 questions about the pressing social issues raised by the Grand Challenges, questions we hope the candidates for the Presidency, Congress and state and local offices will all consider and answer. We offer this list as a way to create much needed conversations about family violence, decarceration, climate change, technology and other topics that are part of promoting individual and family well-being, strengthening our social fabric, and creating a more just society.
