University of Utah Grand Challenges for Social Work Series: The Promise of Social Work Education

Born in response to numerous challenges, the field of social work continues to serve a critical, yet often under-valued role in society today. The professionalization of social work is rooted in a rigorous and nuanced education that promises a standard of care, ethics, and values. Halaevalu Vakalahi, president and CEO of the Council on Social Work Education, shared insights from her own story and discuss the state of social work education today, as well as the role of her national organization in living up to the promise of social work education. This event was originally presented live on March 20, 2024, as part of the University of Utah College of Social Work’s Grand Challenges for Social Work series.
