Submission Deadline: February 1, 2025
The Journal of Baccalaureate Social Work invites submissions for our upcoming issue (Volume 30), focusing on the linkage between the Grand Challenges for Social Work and undergraduate social work education and practice. We seek original research articles, administrative notes, and teaching notes that explore how these pressing societal issues can be integrated into both the curriculum and practical training, enhancing the preparation of future social workers.
The Grand Challenges for Social Work represent a bold agenda aimed at addressing the most critical social issues facing our society today, such as inequality, health disparities, and social justice. These challenges provide a framework for understanding the complex interplay of societal factors and the roles social workers play in promoting well-being and equity. Integrating these challenges into undergraduate education and practice is essential for preparing the next generation of social workers to engage meaningfully with these issues in their future careers.
Incorporating the Grand Challenges into the undergraduate curriculum not only enhances students’ knowledge but also fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills vital for effective practice. By engaging with these challenges, students can better understand the systemic nature of social problems and the importance of evidence-based interventions. This emphasis on real-world issues equips future social workers with the tools they need to create positive change in their communities, ultimately strengthening the profession and its impact on society.
We encourage scholars, educators, and practitioners to share innovative strategies, effective teaching practices, and research that addresses these critical challenges.
