New Book Addresses the Grand Challenge to Create Social Responses to a Changing Environment

Lisa Reyes Mason, PhD, network co-lead for the Grand Challenge to Create Social Responses to a Changing Environment, and Jonathan Rigg, PhD, have edited a new book, People and Climate Change: Vulnerability, Adaptation, and Social Justice. The book focuses on the social dimensions of climate change, examining people’s lived experience, climate-related injustice and inequity, why some groups are more vulnerable than others, and what can be done about it–especially through greater community inclusion in policy change. It will be published by Oxford University Press in May 2019; advance orders are now being accepted.

Dr. Reyes Mason is a Center for Social Development (CSD) faculty director from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Her CSD research focuses on social vulnerability and adaptation to problems at the intersection of society and the environment.
